Meet this year’s 18 Season Club athletes

Following a long-standing tradition, Tripod is proud to honor those elite athletes who have played a sport for every season of their six-year career. They are…..

Richard Impert

Fall: Soccer, 5 years; Football, 1 year

Winter: Wrestling, 6 years

Spring: Tennis, 1 year; Lacrosse, 4 years; Track and Field, 1 year

Favorite Season: 2019-2020 Wrestling. “The whole team aspect of wrestling really pulled me back every year. Mattering as a cog in a machine, as a unit in something greater than myself is a feeling that I’ll never forget.”

Proudest Moment: “Winning clutch wrestling matches probably. I especially remember the Rivers meet where I came from 6 points behind to pin the kid.”

From teammate Mat Cefail: Throughout the match, Richard was just getting really beat up. He was trying but the kid just kept taking him down and Richard fought off his back a few times. Then in the last period with less than 30 seconds left, Richard was on bottom and reversed the kid and put him to his back. It was crazy because Richard was ready to give up and it was one of the first times that Richard actually dug deep and found that extra drive. Everyone in the crowd went crazy because we were so proud of him.

Funniest Moment: “Crawfacademy.”

Timothy Smith

Fall: Soccer, 5 years; Football, 1 year

Winter: Basketball, 6 seasons

Spring: Baseball, 6 seasons

Favorite Season: 2019 Baseball, because many of my favorite memories came from that season.

Proudest Moment: I struck out Coach Shawn Heide ’11 in practice. I will likely tell my grandchildren about it.

Funniest Moment: The funniest moments happened during sixie soccer. There was so much beef on that squad. Kevin Swan still doesn’t know how to stay wide.

Mathew Cefail

Fall: Soccer, 1 Year; Football 5 Years

Winter: Wrestling, 6 Years

Spring: Baseball, 6 Years

Favorite Season: 2019-2020 Wrestling Season

Proudest Moment: Junior Year: I had a long-standing rival from Belmont Hill. At New Englands that year, I faced him in the first round, and lost in a very close match. It hurt a lot but I kept going and battled to stay in the tournament. In my 7th place match, I found myself facing my rival once more, who I had never beaten. It was the last match I would ever have against him as he was a senior. It was a close match throughout and I ended up winning by one point as I scored a takedown with 10 seconds left. I was barely able to hold on to prevent him from escaping. Getting up and hearing all of my teammate’s family and coaches roaring was one of the greatest moments I’ve ever experienced. This is my proudest moment I’ve had ever as an athlete.

Funniest Moment: Any bus ride with Mr. Carroll during Junior Wrestling. (I’m lucky to be alive.)

I also want to thank all of my coaches and teachers. RL will always hold a big place in my heart, and that is in large part because of all the memories I have from sports over the years.

Jeremiah Rose

Fall: Football, 6 years

Winter: Basketball, 6 years

Spring: Lacrosse, 6 years

Favorite Season: 2016-2020 Winter Box Lacrosse League– Everything about those cold Sundays was special.

Proudest Moment:  Long snapping for Tim Smith for the 2019 football season.

Funniest Moment: JJ Demarco going on a fast break the wrong way and nearly scoring on our own hoop during a freshman basketball game at St Sebs.

Ejiro Egodogbare

Fall: Football, 4 years

Winter: Basketball, 4 years

Spring: Track and Field, 4 years

Favorite Season: Football

Proudest Moment: Hitting my first ever in-game 3-pointer against Nobles right before the shot clock ran out and seeing the entire fan section go crazy, including my parents. Well, either this or being recognized as one of the best football players in the state senior year.

Funniest Moment: Getting forced to run the 400 at St. Georges because we didn’t have enough people. I ended up with the 2nd worst all time record and can still remember the exact moment my body realized it was not built for that event. This could also be considered the worst moment in my athletic career but I know it was funny for some people and, looking back on it, it was actually pretty hilarious.
